Daikin simplifies installation of Altherma heat-pump system

Daikin’s Monobloc Altherma heat-pump system includes all hydraulic components in the outdoor unit instead of in a separate enclosure indoors.

Daikin Europe has simplified the installation of its Altherma heat-pump and domestic-hot-water system.

The new Monobloc model contains the outdoor heat pump and ‘hydro’ unit in one case, which is installed outdoors. The ‘hydro’ box was previously installed separately indoors. All the main hydraulic components — circulating pump, expansion vessel, back-up heater and built-in Daikin controller — are now in the same enclosure, simplifying installation. Refrigerant piping is contained within the outdoor unit, so a system can be installed by any heating specialist.

A number of features prevent water freezing in the outdoor unit, such as activating the circulating pump and electric back-up heater when the outdoor temperature is at or below freezing point.

The Monobloc Altherma has a COP of up to 5 and is ideally suited for integration with underfloor heating and LTHW radiators. It can also be configured for cooling using fan-coil units. It also supports the full range of modern DHW boilers and can be integrated with third-party solar systems.
