Evaporative cooling keeps temperature down in Swindon store

Comfort cooling for the mezzanine floor of a new store in Swindon is provided by Breezair evaporative cooling.

Breezair evaporative cooling has been installed as an integral part of the energy-saving features of The Range Home Garden & Leisure store in Swindon. It is expected to use up to 80% less energy than conventional air-conditioning. This 65 000 m2 store offers 65 000 products through 16 departments.

Other green policies incorporated into the design include automatic light-sensitive controls and recycling streams for cardboard, plastics and metal.

Installed by Abercorn Heating & Cooling through CoSaf Environments, the system comprises four Breezair coolers on the roof to provide cooling for the furniture and lighting departments on the mezzanine floor.

The coolers provide a constant flow of cool, fresh air throughout the floor, controlled to maintain 21°C.
