Standby power for a power station

Power Electrics Generators, standby power
Standby power for Didcot B power station is provided by this diesel generator supplied by Power Electrics Generators.

Power Electrics Generators has supplied standby power for a ... power station. The 1850 kVA containerised system will provide standby power for essential services at Didcot B combined-cycle gas-turbine power station operated by RWE npower. The project includes the installation of a 20 000 l bunded fuel tank and total project-management responsibility.

This standby diesel generator is housed to a high-specification container to restrict noise to 65 dB(A) at 1 m. The scope of the project included the complete electrical installation works, installation of the fuel system, remote fill point, civil works, and removal and disposal of the existing generator.

Final installation, commissioning and full system testing was completed to an extremely tight programme, as this part of the project required the entire power station to be closed down and disconnected from the National Grid.
