Sales of heat-pump console systems buck market trend
Carrier reports a significant growth in sales for its water-source heat-pump console heating and cooling system. Whereas the latest report from BSRIA shows a decline in sales across the industry, the water-source console market is bucking the trend by continuing to grow. One of the reasons is changes in legislation such as the F Gas Regulation and EN378.
Filiz Clerkson, product manager with Carrier, says, ‘While the technology is not new, we are definitely experiencing increased in interest in water-source heat-pump units, largely due to legislative forces. We expect this growth to continue.’
Carrier’s console water-source heat pumps (the 50KQE) has five capacities sized to meet the needs of individual zones efficiently and effectively.
The 50RHE horizontal water-source heat pumps are best suited for ceiling-mounted applications and are commonly used in office buildings, apartments, schools and hotels.
The system uses packaged equipment with minimal ductwork. Piping and controls are simple. Systems require a single circulating piping system, which does need to be insulated.
