Oventrop valves specified for hospital refurbishment work

The progressive refurbishment of wards in this hospital in Grimsby makes exclusive use of Oventrop valves.

Oventrop valves have been used throughout the first two stages of the refurbishment of wards in Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, with a third phase about to begin. They were specified by consulting engineers DSSR based in Harrogate.

As well as stripping out all heating and domestic hot water services, M&E contractor H. C. Moore also replaced the existing hot-water infrastructure, which was giving temperature-control problems.

To ensure temperature stability, Oventrop Aquastrom T Plus multi-function DHW secondary-circulation regulating valves have been installed on groups of returns. These valves provide significant energy savings by controlling temperature and flow and simplifying commissioning. They maintain a residual flow to maintain continuous circulation and prevent dead legs.

LPHW from the third-floor plant room serves ceiling heating panels in each of the wards, the single rooms and the en-suite facilities. Every panel has an Oventrop commissioning valve, strainer and isolation valve.

During the first phase, pipework was installed from the plant room to the ground floor and linked into as each phase progressed.
