Glow-worm launches small Clearly Heat Pump model

Glow-worm, Clearly heat pump

Glow-worm has added a 5 kW air-to-water heat pump to its Clearly Heat Pumps range. These units have an electric back-up heater and are designed for new-build homes with low energy requirement and can contribute to achieving Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. They are accredited under the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and therefore eligible for possible funding under the proposed Renewable Heat Incentive. These units achieve a COP of 3.79 with an ambient temperature of 7°C and water temperature of 35°C.

They use R410A, but No F gas qualifications are required to install these units. An inrush-current limiter enables a standard 20 A breaker to be used.

The indoor hydraulic module separates the heat-pump circuit from the central-heating system, so there is no need to fill the entire system with glycol antifreeze. The hydraulic module incorporates a 20 l buffer vessel, a 12 l expansion vessel, circulating pump, filling valves for the glycol circuit, PRV and a inline heater adjustable up to 6 kW.

These heat pumps use Glow-worm’s eBus communication protocol so they can be teamed up with a suitable Glow-worm boiler and an alternative hydraulic module to form the Clearly Hybrid system.
