BSS successfully tackles industrial theft

BSS, SmartWater

The successful application of an initiative to reduce stock theft from pipeline and heating distributor BSS Industrial is leading to an increase in its use. The SmartWater system was successfully used at four branches, with no successful break ins over two years. The SmartWater spray system douses intruders with a clear, non-hazardous liquid that is uniquely identified with its source and which persists for some time.

Mark Gradden, BSS Industrial’s loss-prevention manager, says, ‘Metal theft is an international problems, and the theft of certain items such as copper tube has dramatically increased in the UK.

‘Following the success of SmartWater at four of our branches, BSS Industrial will now begin installing the systems into all of its BSS outlets — where we are confident that it will be equally as effective.’
