Eaton-Williams picks up data-centre cooling award in China

Eaton-Williams, data centre cooling

Eaton-Williams has returned from an event in China with an award for its ServerCool energy-efficient approach to cooling data centres. The award was for best provider of energy-efficient cooling at the China Green Data Centre Development & Best Practice Forum in Beijing, where EW competed against a number of blue-chip and Fortune 100 companies.

ServerCool removes heat directly from a rack of blade servers at source and discharges this heat to a cooling-water circuit. — an approach that is said to use 40% less energy than conventional CRAC (computer-room air-conditioning units).

ServerCool has previously won the Silicon Valley Leadership Award with IBM as the most energy-efficient cooling solution for medium- to high-heat-density server racks.
