Grundfos sets the pace for circulating-pump efficiency

Grundfos, circulating pumps

The Grundfos Alpha2 range of circulating pumps is A-rated for energy efficiency, well ahead of the requirements of an EuP Directive requiring the installation of energy-efficient circulating pumps from 2013. The requirement for the Energy Efficiency Index will be 0.27 or better (1.0 for a standard pump) and 0.23 or better from 2015.

Grundfos claims to be the first company to mass produce A-labelled pumps, and over a million have been installed since the Alpha2 range was first launched two years ago.
