Self-powered device holds open fire doors

Fireco, Freedor, fire door

Fireco’s Freedor provides a wireless solution for holding fire doors open safely and legally to improve access. They have a minimum battery life of 12 to 18 months. Installed at the top of a fire door, they allow it to swing freely, be left in any position — but close the door when the fire alarm sounds.

Freedor listens for a fire alarm that exceeds 65 dB(A) and verifies it for 14 s before releasing the fire door so that it closes. They can operate doors weighing up to 80 kg.

The closing speed can be adjusted, and the door can be set at any angle up to 90°. Installation can be on the opening or closing side of the door. There is a night-time release facility.
