HVCA offers members access to microgeneration certification scheme
Members of the Heating & Ventilating Contractors’ Association now have access to a tailor-made microgeneration certification scheme (MCS) for installers of renewable technologies. Thus benefit has been introduced as a result of a strategic alliance finalised by HVCA subsidiary Building Engineering Services Accreditation (BESCA) and independent certification body for the electrical industry NICEIC.
The MCS concept was developed by the Government to provide consumers with an assurance that microgeneration products are being installed in line with a robust set of independent competence and quality standards.
MCS is also linked to the availability, to members’ customers and clients, of financial incentives — including feed-in tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Research has indicated that 77% of HVCA members are already engaged in the design and installation of a wide range of renewable technologies. The same research, by independent research consultancy Lychgate Projects, also indicates that 84% of respondents anticipate continuing growth and demand for renewables in the near future and that most are committed to developing skills and expertise in this important business sector.
