Quiet and energy-efficient Vent-Axia fans are being installed in new homes being built by Gentoo in the north east of England.

Affordable-housing provider Gentoo has specified Vent-Axia’s Lo-Carbon Centra extract fans for several new-build developments in the north east of England. A £34 million investment from the Homes & Communities Agency provided as part of the Government’s Kick Start funding scheme has enabled Gentoo to create housing for local people in areas they want to live in and which they can afford.

The Vent-Axia fans are being installed in a mix of apartments, bungalows and 2- and 3-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. They have energy-efficient DC motors and noise levels in operation as low as 6 dB(A)

Kevin Shanley, senior electrical engineer with Gentoo, explained. ‘Centra was chosen for our new-build properties because it can be installed in any wet room such as a kitchen, bathroom, en-suite or toilet — making the procurement process simpler. It is also one of the quietest and most efficient fans on the market, with easy on-site adjustment of ventilation rates to suit the fan location.’
