Smith’s adds to the attractions of Whitby

Smith's environmental products, space heating
A warm-welcome to the refurbished Tourist Information Centre at Whitby is provided by heating equipment from Smith’s Environmental Products.

A key component of the heating system for the refurbished Tourist Information Centre at Whitby is the installation of four high-level Ecovectors and two Skyline heaters from Smith’s Environmental Products. The new equipment replaces two elderly air-conditioning units and a number of traditional panel radiators.

The refurbishment work was carried out by Lovell Response, formerly Powerminster of Sheffield.

Whitby Tourist Information Centre is an unusual custom-built modern building with large glass panels on all external walls. Its large interior is open plan.

Iain Wild, regional contracts engineer with Lovell Response, says, ‘Having previously used Smith’s Environmental Products fan convectors, they instantly came to mind when we were planning this installation. For the heat outputs required in this building, Smith’s was the only choice as competitor products simply could not deliver the outputs we needed. The design and simplicity of Smith’s fan convectors is what made them so appealing. It was a very straightforward installation; the units went in with ease, and we are very happy with them.’
