NG Bailey wins Heathrow contract for £9 million

NG Bailey has commenced work at Heathrow Airport as part of an upgrade programme for Terminal 2. The company’s IT-services division has been contracted to provide structured cabling and data network connections to the terminal as part of a wide upgrade to the area.

The contract is worth over £9 million and includes the installation of 24 000 outlets, 200 km of fibre-optic cabling and 700 cabinets to enable the airport operating system and specialist systems to operate over a common infrastructure.

NG Bailey was involved early in the design stage of the project, collating information from 15 specialist systems — including BAA user groups, retail users, control authorities and over 25 separate airlines to ensure that the proposed works meet the exact requirements of each provider.

Gary Pickering, sales director of NG Bailey’s IT-services division, says, ‘We were chosen as the preferred contractor for this project as a direct result of our experience working with BAA and other blue-chip companies on high-value and mission-critical projects.’
