Intelligent mechanical extract ventilation is designed for economic operation
Aereco’s BXC extract unit for mechanical extract ventilation is based on intelligent presence detection to provide ventilation as required. The Eyebooster module detects infra-red radiation through an angle of 100° through a Fresnel lens. When a variation in infra-radiation is detected, the extract shutters are opened and ventilation provided.
BXC units can also incorporate sensors such as CO2 and VOCs.
‘Over-detection’ is avoided by a built-in inhibitor. If, for example, someone is detected passing an open door of a WC, detection must be confirmed 5 s later to activate the airflow. A longer delay (60 s) can be particularly useful in bathrooms with a toilet pan if someone just needs to wash their hands and does not need maximum ventilation.
Airflow can be set at the time of installation to adapt to specific requirements to compensate for lack of pressure down to 60 Pa. Commissioning is improved by a pressure plug that enables measurements to be taken and airflow to be calculated easily.
Other functions include modulated airflow set automatically according to local relative humidity.
BXC units come as standard with a D125 spigot and can also be supplied with a D 100 mm spigot to be compatible with most duct diameters.
