Panasonic offers remedy for pharmaceutical job

Panasonic VRF equipment meets the heating and cooling requirements of a new pharmaceutical facility in Watford.

Equipment from Panasonic’s range of VRF air-condition equipment has been installed at the new site of DDD Pharmaceuticals in Watford to provide controlled cooling for the warehouse and also heating and cooling for the offices. The equipment was supplied by TF Solutions for its ability to satisfy all requirements using a single integrated system. It is also very energy efficient and a learning resource centre.

DDD provides a complete service for manufacturing pharmaceutical products for clients in the health and beauty sectors. The environment in which products are manufactured, stored and distributed must be carefully maintained. There are about 15 t of products on site, so a reliable solution was required.

Seven 16 kW cooling-only cassettes were installed in the pharmaceutical facility, with a further five to heat and cool the offices. All indoor units are served by the same outdoor units.

The ECOi outdoor units can achieve an EER of up to 4.04 when cooling and a heating COP of 4.56.

Martin Savage, director at DDD Pharmaceuticals, says, ‘Our requirements, although not unique, were somewhat complex. It was essential that a constant temperature be maintained, as well as be easily recorded and monitored, within our pharmaceutical facilities to ensure the products are kept at the required conditions. Panasonic was able to provide us with a well-rounded solution.
