Separator collects magnetic and non-magnetic particles — and vents air

pipe, pipework, Altecnic, dirt separator

Altecnic’s triple-action dirt and air separator features an external magnet and is claimed to be the first such device in the UK. Dirtmag IQ removes magnetic particles, non-magnetic particles and air in two simple steps. It can be fitted horizontally or vertically and has a slip coupling for ease of installation.

A low-pressure chamber reduces the velocity of the heated water as it enters the device. The Dirtsep separates non-magnetic dirt and debris. Two external neodymium magnets form an external Magbelt round the body to separate and capture circulating magnetic particles.

During routine servicing the Magbelt is unclipped so that magnetic particles can be released, along with non-magnetic debris, via a 3/4 in full-bore discharge. During the second phase, trapped air can be quickly vented via the built-in air vent.
