MHG boilers provide warmer worship

MHG, boiler, space heating

The integral plate heat exchanger in MHG’s ProCon boilers made it easier and quicker to replace an aging cast-iron boiler in a church in Devon. The old boiler had been unreliable for some years, and there were concerns that it could fail during the winter. As well as being reliable, the new 150 kW condensing boiler is also much more energy efficient.

Wesco, based in Axminster, was called in to replace the old boiler at St Andrew’s Church in Colyton.

Tom Wallis of Wesco says, ‘Space was very restricted in the boiler room, so the compact ProCon HTP boiler was ideal for this project. It was also important to separate the new boiler from the existing distribution system to protect it from dirt in the pipework and radiators.

‘The integral plate heat exchanger means we did not need to install a separate heat exchanger, saving more space and reducing installation time. The boiler primary side is pressurised and monitored by the MHG system pressure manager.’

The new boiler was supplied with onboard controls and weather compensation. The controls were interfaced with the existing system, which staff were familiar with and found easy to use.

The new boiler required an upgrade to the flue, and Wesco used MHG’s matched plastic flue system.
