Active chilled beams are designed for installations with exposed soffits

Flakt Woods, chilled beam, air conditioning

Flakt Woods offers a range of active chilled beams specifically designed for exposed-soffit installation. The IQ Star Nova range has a turndown ratio of 80%, making them well suited to applications with fluctuation occupancy levels — such offices and schools. Occupancy is tracked by a combination of CO2 and occupancy sensors. Operating costs can be up to 25% less than traditional constant-volume systems.

The flow-pattern control system permits an extremely flexible approach to room layouts. Plastic blades can be adjusted for air throws of 0°, 15°, 30° and 45°.

These highly adaptable beams have various nozzle combinations that can be simply adjusted after installation, future proofing the design and giving full flexibility for Cat-B changes.

Units are available for cooling only or cooling and heating.

All units in the IQ Star range are compatible with the STRA controller, which is specifically designed for chilled-beam applications. Features include a free-cooling option. The control unit can be integrated with a building-management system.
