Airedale moves to HFO for TurboChill chiller
Airedale is soon to launch a production range of free-cooling chillers using Turbocor compressors with R1234ez, which has a very low global warming potential of six, compared with around 1300 for refrigerants such as R134a. R1234ez is an HFO and breaks down in the atmosphere in a few days, compared with 13 years for previous-generation counterparts.
TurboChill free-cooling chillers with this new refrigerant will automatically receive two BREEAM points.
Selected models of TurboChill chillers qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
A TurboChill FreeCool offers twice as much free cooling as a thermo-siphon free-cooling system and can deliver free cooling for up to 95% of the year (based on 24/7 data centre with a room temperature of 24°C in London).
