JTL, a major provider of training for the electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilating trades, has opened a new £1 million training centre in Birmingham. It was officially opened by Sir Albert Bore, leader of Birmingham City Council, and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Leddy.

This new centre will provide a training base for up to 144 apprentices at any one time across the different disciplines in building-services engineering and facilities management. It will also provide a range of top-up training and professional-development courses for those already working in the professions.

Denis Hird, chief executive of JTL, says, ‘Our new centre combines attractive classrooms and a conference centre on the first floor. On the ground floor, four separate workshops have been created to support practical training. They are also the location for independent assessment of Level 3 qualifications in electrical installation and maintenance, as well as Level 2 and 3 awards in plumbing, heating, ventilating and other related trades.’
