Reznor, space heating, warm air

The heating installation visible at high level in the Museum of Flight in Edinburgh has a Y formation to mirror the shape of the Concorde that is on display. The three Reznor Airmix ducts have been recently installed and are served by an existing Nordair IDF unit providing an airflow of 8.7 m3/s. The unit needed to be modified with an inverter drive to ensure a soft start and gradual inflation of the ducts.

The air-distribution plenum was modified to include turning vanes and balancing dampers to ensure each of the three sections receives an airflow of 2.9 m3/s.

The Airmix high-induction air-distribution system provides an evenly diffused distribution of warm or conditioned air. The lightweight duct has a large number of small outlet nozzles. Air enters the space at high speed and induces surrounding air, including heat from lighting and heat that has risen into the roof space.

The result is very evenly distributed heat at low air velocities and low noise levels. Heat stratification is virtually eliminated, and there is no need for fans to recirculate air.
