Car-park ventilation

Flakt Woods, Flakt-Woods, car park ventilation

Flakt-Woods has developed a CPD course on the application of jet thrust fans for car-park ventilation. Such fans are now the first choice for car-park ventilation throughout the UK, yet there is often a lack of cohesion in the industry when utilising jet-thrust-fan technology effectively.

The CPD has been created by James Allen, senior CFD applications engineer at Flakt Woods to provide guidance on the design of smoke-control systems for car parks.

With a wide range of products available, designing a system can be a complex task. Only with a full understanding of the true performance of thrust fans when installed and how to incorporate this knowledge into designs can a system be fully integrated.

This CPD provides an understanding of the capabilities of thrust fans and considering the positioning for effective smoke clearance and smoke control. It also explains the importance of using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) to design and demonstrate an effective thrust-fan system.
