Automatic testing of emergency lighting
Advanced has developed an online savings calculator to show how much time and cost can be saving using its Lux Intelligent testing system for emergency lighting compared to manual and other addressable systems. An example follows.
The example is for a building with one Lux intelligent panel and 150 emergency light fittings. It assumes the cost of an engineer performing manual daily checks to be £39 000 a year. The first-year saving is over £5700, including installation. After five years, the saving is £80 000.
The system works with almost any light source, including LEDs and can easily be added to existing wiring. Each panel has up to four loops, each supporting 249 luminaires.
The system has an extensive set of testing strategies, including current and voltage monitoring and direct monitoring of light level via fibre optics.
Test data is stored securely in the cloud, and the system delivers live details on status, faults, test failures and advisories via a smartphone or web browser.
