Remeha boilers installed for Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust has installed five Remeha boilers in three of its historic buildings as part of work to refurbish and upgrade heating systems. They are the Sail & Colour Loft, Royal Dockyard Church and the Admiral’s Offices. The buildings have been well maintained over the years, so the trust requested that the new boilers were connected to the original pipework and radiators. Dirt and air separators were used to project the new equipment.

The Sail & Colour, which almost certainly made the sails for Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory, has two Quinta Pro 115 condensing boilers operating in a cascade formation.

PCS Consulting Services worked on the project, and engineer Adam Rawlinson explained, ‘Remeha Quinta Pro boilers are extremely compact, so this gave use more flexibility and options in terms of plant-room design. In addition, as the cascade for one of the installations was prefabricated and preconfigured off site, the contractor, Amdell Mechanical, was able to install it quickly and easily, which helped reduce labour costs and keep any disruption on site to a minimum.’

The church has a Gas 210 Eco Pro, which has a very small footprint so it fitted easily into the plant room — with space for another boiler if required.

In the Admiral’s Offices, two Gas 210 Eco Pro boilers replaced the existing failing boiler. Internal controls and the internal weather-compensation curve feature enable the two boilers to make full use of the fully modulating features and share the duty.
