Advanced Air delivers complete package for mixed-use development

Advanced Air, air conditioning, fan coil units, grilles, diffusers, dampers, fire, smoke damper

Fan coils, valve sets, diffusers, fire smoke dampers and control panels totalling £2.5 million have been supplied by Advanced Air to Mace for the Nova mixed-use development on a island site near Victoria Station in London. This architecturally daring urban campus covers 2.2 ha.

Commercial and residential space are air conditioned by 4-pipe heating and cooling coils from Advanced Air. There are 1350 horizontal chassis units for the commercial building and about 1000 vertical units for residential application.

The fan coils were subjected to extensive independent testing at BSRIA and SRL.

The residential units have a complete downstream package comprising a specially designed plenum/attenuator connecting directly to the architecturally designed flowline diffuser, all supplied by Advanced Air and factory fitted where appropriate.

Flowline diffusers deliver air to a shadow gap/slot, so that just a simple slot is seen in the ceiling, creating good aesthetics for these luxury apartments.

The basement covers the whole site and has 450 high-temperature smoke dampers which were designed so that they could also be used as volume-control dampers during normal operation. The dampers were supplied complete with a special control system with variable decoders that eliminated the need to have two separate contractors involved (fire-alarm contractor and BMS contractor), saving time and cost.
