Controlling air flow for energy efficiency

Waterloo Air Products, VAV, demand controlled ventilation

Waterloo Air Products’ VAV (variable air volume) range offers the ability to control airflow for long-term efficiency benefits. Temperature and humidity are monitored so the airflow can be adjusted automatically to maintain an environment suited to the needs of the specific room.

Changes in airflow are made quickly to maintain the desired temperature.

Waterloo supplies VAV alongside its range of air-terminal devices for a complete air-movement system tailored to the specific needs of the building.

Luke Bigg, test and development engineer with the company, explains, ‘Getting VAV right means understanding how a building wil be used, on a room-by-room basis. We engineer the products needed, test them in our in-house lab and provide technical back-up so that architects, builders and engineers get the most effective performance from a VAV system.’

The range of volume controllers also includes constant air flow, volume flow-rate controllers, sensor-activate dampers and secondary attenuators. Options include acoustically lined versions for reduced sound levels.
