Reznor heating keeps things running smoothly

Reznor, Nor-Ray-Vac

The Nor-Ray-Vac system from Reznor (part of the Nortek Global HVAC Group) combusts fuel at the point of use, enabling maximum efficiency with no distribution losses. It is a product that is proving particularly useful in large open spaces such as warehouses and factories.

Suspended from the roof, the continuous radiant tube heating system emits infra-red rays that warm only objects and people in their path. Low operating costs are achieved by concentrating the heat at low level. It also offers flexible design. Furthermore, there is air movement so dust and airborne particles are not disturbed.

Nor-Ray-Vac has recently been specified by Venice Simplon Orient Express for a refurbishment of its high bay and main locomotive shed, where a Nor-Ray-Vac had been installed 28 years ago. Orient Express approached Multigas and asked them to assist with the update.

When doors are open at both ends of the shed, a wind tunnel effect is created, and cold air at high velocity is drawn into the shed. Keeping it warm enough for employees to work comfortably is compounded by the north-south alignment of the tracks, which allows very little sunshine to warm the interior.

Nortek Global HVAC were able to offer the ideal heating solution under the Reznor brand. When operatives are working on one part of the train, zoning enables all other parts of the radiant heating system to be switched off. Over time this produces considerable fuel economies and cost reductions.
