Fortnum & Mason shops with Waterloo

Waterloo air diffusers feature in the latest upgrade of Fortnum & Mason in London

The air-distribution requirements for the refurbishment of London shopping emporium Fortnum & Mason have been met by equipment from Waterloo Air Products.

This historic building has an area of about 6000 m2 in the West End of London, and this latest refurbishment builds on the re-fit of 1998 to encourage greater and more frequent footfall from existing customers and to entice new ones.

The store’s architects chose Waterloo to supply CSF continuous slot diffusers for the project. These diffusers are particularly suited to variable-volume applications by virtue of their excellent diffusion characteristics at low flow rates. In addition, the novel design of the element that controls the air pattern makes possible any distribution of air, right up to vertical projection, with no changes to external appearance.

The 2-year transformation involved five shopping floors, including two food halls, five new restaurants and an imposing central atrium with a sweeping staircase. A roof-light forms an eye-catching focal point to the store.
