Heat-recovery VRF adds to energy efficiency of headquarters building
Helping the new headquarters of Peugeot Citroen Automobiles UK meet high environmental standards are a VRF air-conditioning system and thermal heatwave recuperators from Mitsubishi Electric. Installer BMS Air Conditioning supplied and fitted 15 large City Multi outdoor units and 252 ducted indoor units as part of a VRF system for the 3-storey Pinley House on Sunbeam Way in Coventry.
The City Multi heat-recovery system uses inverter technology to match the cooling or heating requirements of each area to maximise energy efficiency and minimise CO2 emissions.
Caid Hewitt, contract manager with BMS, says, ‘The occupiers should benefit from comfortable working conditions which provide long-term energy savings. We will be managing maintenance for the next 12 months, which should prove straightforward and unobtrusive, thanks to elements of the set up such as the use of branch connector boxes.’
The development provides office space for over 500 employees, a technical centre and a sports pavilion. It has solar-powered external Venetian blinds that respond to the path of the Sun to minimise the use of artificial lighting and reduce solar gain.
