Rehau underfloor heating is installed under acoustic floor
The flexibility of Rehau underfloor heating has been exploited in the new music school of Headington School in Oxford with an installation on battens under an acoustic floor.
Installer and Rehau authorised partner Anders Heating used the Rehau aluminium diffusion plate system to position the pipework in 0.8 mm thick grooved plates fixed to the battens across a floor area of 630 m2.
The high-conductivity aluminium plates provide a level surface for the acoustic floor and deliver even heat. The return-water temperature of 38°C does not impact on the performance or appearance of the timber acoustic floor.
The plates were stapled to the battens and joists on top of glass-fibre wool insulation. 16 mm pipework was then clipped into the joists.
The Rehau system was chosen by consultants Gifford, which wanted a solution specifically designed for timber floors. A BMS controls the heating in various zones in the new building.
This independent boarding and day school caters for girls aged 3 to 18.
