A thousand heating and cooling units are controlled by Oventrop valves in new college

A thousand heating and cooling units in this new college in Ipswich are controlled by Oventrop valves.

Oventrop mechanical services valves have been installed to control heating and cooling systems in the £70 million Suffolk New College in Ipswich. The 22 000 m2 of new accommodation to the north of the existing site has been purpose designed to meet the needs of 21st-century education and training. Oventrop valves were chosen exclusively by Dodd Group for their ready availability, cost and known reliability of use through experience gained on previous installations.

The services for the project, designed by WSP Buildings, include 600 ceiling-mounted 4-way air-diffusion modules for heating and cooling and 400 radiant panels. Each comfort module contains heating and cooling coils.

The radiant panels are on the eastern side of the building and provide heating only. Enclosed areas and those on the south-western side have comfort modules for heating and cooling. Oventrop valve assemblies control all comfort modules and radiant panels.

The main plantroom with boilers and ancillary equipment is on the roof. All the plantroom valves were supplied by Oventrop. To achieve hydronic balance throughout heating and cooling circuits, commissioning sets and differential-pressure control valves are strategically located.
