Structural underfloor heating system passes TRADA tests

Timoleon’s Toron flooring system combines a floor deck with underfloor heating in a single, structurally loaded entity. The panels have been tested to the requirements of EN1195 by the Timber Research & Development Association and meet the requirements for domestic and residential activities and for bedrooms in hotels, motels, hospital rooms and toilet areas. The Toron flooring system is claimed to be the only structural underfloor heating system to have passed these tests.

The system can be used with joisted floor constructions above 600 mm, suiting it to retrofit applications.

The 22 mm-thick panels of moisture-resistant flooring-grade chipboard are ready tongued and grooved and routed to accept Timoleon’s 10 mm polybutylene underfloor-heating pipe.

Pipe is fitted into channels on the upper surface of the chipboard, ensuring the heating is close to the floor finish to maximise heat output and reduce water temperature. There are standard and high-performance versions, the latter having an aluminium strip above each pipe channel to boost performance by 10%.

Once the pipe has been fitted and pressure tested, a wood can be fixed directly to the Toron module or a 6 mm layer of plywood installed over the floor for other finishes.
