A-Gas develops total approach to flushing HCFC systems

A-Gas, flushing, HCFC, refrigerant

A-Gas has developed a system for flushing HCFC refrigerant systems when they are being retrofitted to use another refrigerant such as an HFC. AK Flush is a non-toxic solution with no ozone-depletion potential. It uses a range of polar solvents that dissolve and remove oil, particulates, sludge, acids, carbon residues and moisture to prevent compressor damage. AK Flush can also be used after a compressor burn-out.

A carbon-dioxide propellant pushes the solvent into the system, and the dissolved CO2 boils out of the solvent, causing a fizzing effect to aid cleaning. The non-aqueous blend of solvents has a low boiling point, so it is easy to remove after cleaning using a nitrogen purge and subsequent system evacuation.

A 5 kg pack is sufficient for systems up to 50 kW. Larger packs can be specified and priced on request.

AK flush is delivered in a pressurised cylinder with an empty receptacle for waste. Both containers need to be returned for handling as hazardous and reporting through the correct EA Haz waste-management scheme. Waste destruction of the residue has been factored into the pricing.
