Hulley & Kirkwood completes hospital energy centre

Hulley & Kirkwood consulting engineers has provided the mechanical and electrical services for the new £112 million Hartswood South unit of Thameside Hospital The project included a standalone energy centre to serve this building and the Etherow building.

The energy centre accommodates the 2.4 MW district-heating plant, including a 500 kW biomass boiler to meet about 18% of the heating requirement. The services also include specialist medical gases.
