Two academy contracts worth £8 million have been won by Kershaw Mechanical Services. One is for All Saints Academy in Dunstable and is worth £3 million. The other is for Bedford Academy (pictured) and is worth £5 million. Both academies will replace existing buildings and are designed around a central hub providing a circular reception atrium.

Energy efficiency and environmental impact are key elements of these projects. M&E services will include underfloor heating, natural ventilation via automatically opening windows with temperature sensors, fully controlled intelligent lighting and ground-source heat pumps. All Saints Academy will have 100 m2 of solar PV panels on the roof.

All Saints Academy is due for completion by September 2012 and Bedford Academy in April 2013.
