L2 electricity meters are easy to install

Havells, L2 electricity meter, submeter

Electricity metering units from Havells are designed for easy installation on existing supplies or upgrades to help meet the metering requirements of Part L2 of the Building Regulations. MMU meter management units comprise a multi-function meter in an IP65 enclosure with pre-wired split-core current transformers. The range comprises 125 and 250 A units with standard multi-function meters or MID meters.

These meters have their own display, and they can be read remotely. Parameters displayed include kW, kVAr, KVA, maximum demand since last reset, kWh (import and export), voltage, frequency, current and total harmonic distortion. For remote monitoring and BMS systems, pulsed outputs and Modbus communications are offered as standard. The MID meter option offers an approved meter for landlords to bill tenants.

To save installation time and avoid the risk of errors, the current transformers are pre-wired to flying leads that are easily connected to the meter terminals. Optional voltage reference connections use ‘vampire’ insulation-piercing terminals for simplicity and safety.
