Atlantic Boilers adds to BREEAM rating for Forum at Exeter University

Boilers from Atlantic Boilers for this new building at the University of Exeter can operate in condensing mode all year round.

Three gas-fired boilers from Atlantic Boilers that are designed to condense all year round have been installed to provide space heating for the Forum project at the University of Exeter. Atlantic installed boilers from its R22 range, two with an output of 225 kW and one of 500 kW. They have pre-mix burners with a substantial turndown ratio and low-NOx levels, which earn maximum BREEAM points.

This project forms a new centre piece for the hilly Steetham Campus. Central to the scheme is an undulating timber grid-shell roof which shelters and unifies a series of student-focused spaces within. The fluid form respects views from the city to Dartmoor.

Alongside the boilers are two 375 kW mini-Espresso plate heat exchangers, each fitted with a 2500 l highly insulated storage for domestic hot water. The installer was MJN Colston of Exeter.
