AET installs air conditioning for LEED Platinum development

AET, underfloor air conditioning
Air conditioning for the office component of the Parkview Green mixed-used development in Beijing is provided by AET’s Flexible Space System.

As part of the air-conditioning solution for the Parkview Green Platinum LEEDS-CS (Leadership in energy and environmental design — core and shell) pre-certified development in Beijing, AET has installed over 80 000 m2 of its low-energy Flexible Space System for the office part of the development. Parkview Green FangCaoDi is a mixed-use scheme covering 200 000 m2 comprising retail facilities, office complexes and a 6-star boutique hotel encased in a glass environmental envelope with a sloping roof made of ETFE plastic.

Each zone of the Flexible Space System provides a complementary low-energy solution, with each zone supplied with chilled or warmed air from the underfloor void, which acts as a plenum.

Supply air is drawn up into the occupied space by fan-assisted terminal units recessed into the floor and drawing power from an underfloor system.

Air returns through grilles in the floor into the return plenum for reconditioning and mixing with fresh air.

The Flexible Space System provides the ability to cope quickly and cost effectively with changes in office layout. The fan tiles are not restricted by duct or pipe connections and are easily interchangeable with floor tiles.
