J.S.Wright, contractor

A £1 million contract to upgrade heating system for a tower block and two 6-storey sheltered block on a housing estate opposite the Kia Oval cricket ground in London has been won by J. S. Wright. The housing on the Ashmole Estate is run by Metropolitan Housing Trust.

The first project is the design and installation of a new heating system and distribution circuitry for each flat in the 24-storey Sirinham Point while all the dwellings remain occupied. The system will run from the existing rooftop plant.

The company will also install a second centralised plant room connected to an existing distribution system at Coney Way to serve its 40 sheltered apartment and another 40 at Cottingham Road. The existing district-heating system will continue to operate without interruption until the switchover.

The work will eventually see the internal and external upgrading of nearly 700 homes by 2016.
