BASF House wins award

British Gas was a winner of the innovation of the year award at the Micropower Council awards for 2012 for a project involving Panasonic’s Aquarea air-source heat pump. The award was for an installation in the BASF House at the University of Nottingham’s creative energy homes project using a 9 kW monobloc air-to-water heat pump.

When connected to an existing conventional hot-water cylinder, this unit can raise the tank contents from 27°C (typical overnight standing temperature) to 43°C (typical acceptable hot-water temperature) within an hour.

The project has achieved high levels of tenant satisfaction, and the university will be able to monitor data for many years.

Mark Diaz of Panasonic comments, ‘We’re proud to be part of an award-winning project. It is great to see the calibre of our products is being recognised through their achievements.’
