Biomass group set up to negotiate with DECC

In response to DECC (Department of Energy & Climate Change) indicating that it would prefer to negotiate with a single trade association about biomass heating, the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA) has launched a biomass heating group. Its aim is to act as a collective voice representing companies in this industry.

Mike Foster, chief executive of EUA, says, ‘EUA is forming this group as it is mutually beneficial to our members and Government. We have a proven track record in negotiating, advising and debating at this level and offer a “safe and well respected pair of hands”.’

The group will be led by the Hot Water & Heating Industry Council and the Industrial & Commercial Energy Association (ICOM). They are both divisions of EUA, which already works with many of the leading innovators in this field.
