Ecodan goes bivalent

Mitsubishi Electric, heat pump, space heating, renewable energy

Mitsubishi has developed a cylinder for its Ecodan air-source heat pumps system that can work in tandem with gas, oil or other heating technology. This packaged cylinder and its controller can switch between the heat pump and other heat source to achieve the most cost-efficient and low-carbon heating all year round.

John Kellett, general manager of the heating-systems division, says, ‘Low-carbon heating can now become a reality for larger domestic properties and light commercial situations.’

Operating parameters for the cylinder and its controller can be set before installers get to site. These cylinders are pre-plumbed and wired for faster installation.

The control system enables up to six outdoor units to be linked, enabling a system to deliver 5 to 84 kW of heat.
