Fuel-cell cogeneration for homes

Viessmann and Panasonic have developed a fuel-cell co-generation system which is claimed to be the first polymer electrolyte fuel-cell system available for homes in Europe. The fuel-cell unit has been developed by Panasonic, with the peak-load boiler and hot-water tank from Viessmann.

Compared with the separate generation of heat and power, micro-CHP based on fuel cells can halve CO2 emissions. The fuel cell has a power output of 750 W and a thermal output of 1 kW.
