Airedale plans for rapid recovery after fire

Following a major fire at its Leeds site, Airedale International Air Conditioning expects to be back in full production during November and looking to deliver orders by 2 January 2014. The fire broke out during the afternoon of 6 September 2013, but was quickly contained by West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.

The company’s field-based services and controls operations were not affected.

The most critical areas of production were relatively unscathed, and production of the precision and IT cooling range was expected to commence by mid-October, once the structural integrity of the building had been confirmed.

Managing director Clive Parkman explained, ‘The most important element in the equation is that our intellectual knowledge and the skills of our people are intact, and this will be the key to our resuming normal operations within a rapid timeframe.’

The company has 40 years in the industry and a substantial network of customers and suppliers, which were quick to volunteer their support.

All members of the staff of over 300 were accounted for, and permanent employees were quickly reassured that there will be no job losses as a direct result of the fire.
