Pipe sleeve restores penetration fire rating

Kingspan Tarec, pipe insulation, intumescent, fire penetration

Kingspan Tarec’s Kooltherm FireSleeve has an intumescent layer inside a stainless-steel facing and is sealed at both ends with compressible rings. It is designed to seal service penetrations and can reinstate the original fire rating of a building element.

When exposed to high levels of heat, the intumescent substance swells and forms a hard char that closes any gaps between the pipework and the edge of the penetration. Kooltherm FireSleeve has a 2-hour fire-integrity rating to BS EN 1366; it is particularly suited for fire-rated constructions where inadequately sealed building-services penetrations can act as a channel for smoke and flames.

The 205 mm FireSleeve has a secure clasp fastening and is supplied pre-wrapped around a 300 mm sector of Kooltherm FM pipe insulation. The product is available in a range of sizes to fit Kooltherm FM pipe insulation installed on steel or copper pipework.
