The regeneration project at Alperton in west London is using Elco boilers to help meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Elco UK has supplied five R606 floor-standing condensing gas-fired boilers to a new residential regeneration project in Alperton, London. 243 Ealing Road comprises 441 mixed-tenure apartments in seven contemporary glass towers from 9 to 14 storeys high. There is also 1200 m2 of commercial space.

The boilers were specified by John Holland of M&E contractor DW Pointer, based in Bromsgrove. He says, ‘As part of the vision of regenerating the Alperton area, all residential developments had to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, while commercial and community floor space needed to achieve BREEAM Excellent status.

‘These requirements were instrumental in the specification of the R606 boilers; the units have emissions which easily exceed the requirements for the best BREEAM score, plus they return excellent efficiencies.’

When completed, the project will deliver 1600 new homes, new social infrastructure such as a primary school and health centre, and new shopping facilities. It will also create more open spaces for recreation to capitalise on its location along the Grand Union Canal.
