Salix finances LED lighting upgrade

Salix, LED lighting, maintenance, refurbishment

With the help of a Salix funding agreement, Coleg Cambria (College Of North East Wales) has improved over 490 light fittings, with an expected reduction in electricity consumption of 56% — worth over £11 000 a year. The new LED lighting will also reduce annual maintenance costs by about £6500.

Rick Bedson, head of estates at Coleg Cambria, explains, ‘We had a number of proposed projects to upgrade existing lighting systems with new LED units and were pleased to receive Salix funding.’

Salix Finance provides interest-free loans to improve energy efficiency across the public sector. The £78 000 loan will be paid back over six years from savings on the energy bills. Once the loan has been repaid, Coleg Cambria will directly benefit from all the financial savings.
