Mikrofill supplies new plant for luxury hotel

Mikrofill, space heating, boiler, DHW, Hotels, leisure

Upgrading the existing oil-fired LPHW and HWS circuits at a hotel operated by Amazing Venues group included the installation of four Mikrofill condensing boilers, two pressurisation packages and three Extreme HWS loading cylinders complete with unvented kits. The design for Stanbrook Abbey Hotel near Worcester was prepared by building-services consultants Energy Performance Solutions.

The equipment was installed in two plantrooms. To preserve the character of the building in which one plantroom was located, the existing brick chimney stacks were lined to accommodate the new boilers.

In the other plant room, each of the two Extreme cylinders can produce 845 l of hot water in 10 minutes at 60°C to achieve a combined flow of 2.8 l/s.

The boilers have a high turndown ratio — 40:1 on one plantroom and 20:1 in the other.

The new equipment was installed by mechanical contractor Daly Engineering Services.
