The need for multiple flue penetrations through the roof and facade of a new residential development in London has been avoided using a vertical cascade flue system that enables up to 11 boilers on 11 levels to share a common 110 mm-diameter flue riser. The Vogue E1 development by Higgins Homes is in the fashionable ‘garment district’ and include 44 Geminox boilers supplied by Evinox. The client chose the cascade system to maintain the fabric of this sleek, iconic building. With modern apartment developments increasingly using internal service risers, the cascade system is an ideal solution. The Geminox boilers have an inbuilt micro-processor that controls the fan speed to suit flue conditions and provide a balanced boiler and flue system to guarantee flue conditions and efficiency. Other benefits are enabling full boiler output to be achieved and not shortening the life expectancy of the fan by overworking it. The exceptionally low noise levels of these boilers avoid noise being carried through the flue system.
